When I first started experimenting with content creation, in order to avoid distraction and my need to make everything perfect before posting, I told myself that if I couldn't create it on my phone, then I wouldn't post it. This wasn't about limiting quality, it was about limiting my perfectionism, and in order to do that I had to limit the tools to cut out distraction. The more tools I have, the more complex I make things, which becomes just another barrier to posting. For context, my taste in content is at the level of A24, so my brain tells itself anything below that bar isn't perfect enough to post. So I'd make things and put them on the shelf, never to be seen, because my battle with perfectionism is about as strong as a dish with too much garlic.
The constraints allowed me to create freely with a focus on just satisfying my need to create.I fiddled around with a bunch of different styles. I even took a dive in to some of the more trending influencer content, but that didn’t really align with me. So I stopped for a bit and reset. What I realized about myself is that in order to keep this consistent, I needed to create for the sake of scratching that internal itch and not out of the idea of ROI. If ROI comes from it, good. If not, it’s still win.
Safe to say I think I’m finding my way. I just had to slow it down.
